Local Avian Vets
An “avian veterinarian” is someone who is willing to treat birds; any veterinarian can call him/herself an avian veterinarian. A “certified avian veterinarian” is one who has obtained certification from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP).
While there are a number of competent and qualified veterinarians in the region, we are confident recommending these veterinarians because they are certified Avian specialists and located within fifty miles of our facility. We work with these veterinarians for our shop and personal birds. As additional veterinarians achieve the Avian certification, we will expand this list. We hope the commitment demonstrated by these veterinarians encourages others to achieve the Avian certification.
As Avian Medicine is a comparatively nascent field, different veterinarians may have different opinions and practices. The vets listed below are well qualified and recommended, but in extreme circumstances we believe it can be a good idea to reach out to multiple vets for opinions on medical conditions.
